07 - Denmark - Registration and/or tuition fees
Access to public sector education is in general for free. An exception
is admission to the adult education system, where students have to pay
tuition fees which covers part of the costs of the education.
The
government’s system of financing education and training is almost
exclusively based on the so-called taximeter system, a comprehensive
financing system based on per capita grants (cash-per student) to
institutions. The grants are calculated primarily on the recorded
student activity measured as their participation in
courses/examinations. The taximeter rate varies according to subject
field and level of education.
Students do not have to make any compulsory financial contributions to the student unions or to medical care.
