18 - Iceland - Organisational variations, alternative structures
In recent years providing access to higher education via distance learning has become an increasingly
important aspect of the Icelandic higher education system. Most of the higher education institutions
offer distance learning courses in some areas of study. There is no specific legislative framework for
distance learning at higher education level.
There are no international schools operating at higher educational level in Iceland. However, some
higher education institutions offer programmes and/or courses in cooperation with foreign higher
education institutions.
